Due to the current Coronavirus Outbreak, Soup to Serve has been
cancled until further notice.
St. Monica’s Soup to Serve ministry feeds the homeless in Berkley in conjunction with JC Orton of the Catholic Worker. We invite adult parishioners who would like to volunteer their time and talent to meet with us after morning mass on Fridays (winter/spring) in the Peace Center kitchen. During summer and fall we meet on the third Friday of every month in the Peace Center kitchen. Information regarding changes is normally published in advance in the parish bulletin.
The Catholic Church has a long and proud history of feeding the less fortunate in our midst and She teaches that feeding the hungry is one of the seven Corporal Works of Mercy. All adults are welcome to attend, and no prior experience is necessary. The food used to feed the homeless is provided through the donation of local vendors and we have a fully equipped kitchen.
“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one”
